Movie Review :: Meiporul (Tamil)

Meiporul:
========
A wonderful Tamil title for a movie created by NRI's in US.

Yesterday, I got a chance to watch this movie. In fact I wanted to watch it for a long time ever since I saw the Thirai Vimarsanam in Sun TV. Now for the review.

Story
====
It's a simple one-line story backed by a strong screenplay. The story evolves around a doctor and his journalist wife and their friends. A stranger in the guise of a friend enters the doctor's life, he exposes himself of having the power to say what is going to happen in future - in medical terms ESP. When some of his predictions do come true, the doctor starts believing him and his powers.

The Story really gets going when he predicts that the doctor is going to die and is about to be killed by his own wife. What happens next - did the doctor die, if yes who killed him, who is this stranger - the answer to all this is the climax?

Characters
=========
Other characters like Cine Hero who comes for surgery from India; the heroine playing a helping hand in nabbing the child trafficking group at the start of the movie (in fact this is the first scene of the movie); the best friend of doctor his girl friend and all other characters have played their role.

Songs and BG Score
==================
The Songs are not that great; their is no background music for most of the scenes. That is understandable because it is not a A.R.Rahman or Harris or Yuvan's score. The music, songs everything is done by NRI's based out in US.

Pros and Cons
=============
+ Good Effort
+ Decent story, good screenplay, it is nice to see that suspense of the story is maintained till the end.
+ All characters (almost everybody new faces) have done well.
+ Good Tamil dialogues in almost all scenes ... you will not find this is in even Tamil movies that are made here in Tamilnadu.
+ Location is nice; entire film is shot in US.

- The film is only 2 hours long; but it is very, very, very slow -- that it seems it is more than 4 hours
- Some scenes are very slow that you feel it is very drama type rather than filmy type
- Songs could have been better

Final Verdict
===========
Good effort. For a first timers it is a appreciatable effort. Can give it 2 out of 5. Definitely we can watch it once, no doubt. Not suitable for people who don't have patience - fans who like movies of fast raced 'Gilli' type will simply hate this movie.

Could have been better, I can only say "Good Effort - Half done!", the only villian for the movie is not story or screenplay but the slowness of the movie!
